When the air conditioning unit was installed, the air quality was so bad that the state of Florida sued – and the judge ruled in favor of the company
A Florida air conditioning company has won a court victory against a state agency that sued it after it installed an air conditioning system that emitted unhealthy levels of pollution.
A judge ruled that the company has a constitutional right to sue the Florida Department of Environmental Protection after the agency installed the unit at its Florida City Airport in June 2017.
The lawsuit alleges that the air conditioner emitted unhealthy concentrations of nitrogen oxides and particulate matter that contributed to a number of health conditions, including heart attacks, asthma attacks and respiratory problems.
The company’s air conditioners are among the most popular air conditioning systems in the world.
The agency has said it believes the air system is safe and that the system is working.
But the company contends that the department has failed to follow procedures and to properly assess the health of its employees.
